Equip

Grow spiritually | Find community | Change your world

What Is Equip?

EQUIP is a 5-week class for anyone who wants to grow, whether you're new to your faith or you've walked with God for years. Each week centers on one quality that shapes how you live: fear, grief, self-image, and others like them. You'll do a short reading on your own, then meet with a small group to talk through what you're learning and where it applies in your life.

This class works best if you're willing to be honest, not just about your faith but about the specific ways fear or self-image play out in your relationships, your work, and your daily decisions. Most people who finish EQUIP say the biggest shift wasn't new information. It was seeing a pattern in themselves they'd never named before, and having a group that helped them work through it.

By the end of 5 weeks, you'll have a clearer picture of who Jesus is, what He says about you, and how to apply what He teaches to bring real change. Check the schedule below for the next available session.

What To Expect

Life brings all of us hard seasons: grief, anxiety, and the weight of things we can’t control. Equip is a place to bring those real struggles and discover what God’s Word actually says about them. Whether you’re walking through one of the topics yourself or want to better help someone you love, you’ll leave each week with biblical wisdom you can put to use.

  • Format: In-person, Sunday mornings at 9:00am in the Fellowship Hall.
  • Length: 90 minutes each week.
  • Duration: 5 weeks
  • Who can attend: Equip is open to anyone. No prior classes or experience needed.

What We’ll Cover:

Over the five weeks of this summer session, we’ll dig into four topics:

  • Anxiety

Worry, doubt, and fear get the best of us sometimes, and often there is no way to get rid of them. Anxiety, like any other negative emotion, is a twisted version of something positive from God. Since we live in a fallen world, we may never have full victory over it.

However, we can have full victory in our anxiety. We can learn how to use it when it strikes. In this study, we see a proper Christlike view of anxiety, from creation to fall to redemption to glory. Along the way, we learn to apply the Gospel to our daily lives and reclaim anxiety for what it should be: vigilance to motivate us to do God’s work.

  • Deception

Do you struggle with deception? How do you define what deception is? Does it involve only straightforward, spoken lies, or can it describe many actions that people take (and don’t take)? Is it possible to stop being a liar by not telling lies anymore, or must something else be put in their place instead?

In this study, we learn to uncover deception in all of its subtle forms. We’ll look at the various ways that deception can turn up and define them biblically. Then, we’ll learn to recognize our own specific styles of lying. We’ll come out with a clear plan for combating deception, not merely by resisting the temptation to lie, but by becoming a teller of the truth instead.

  • Grief

Seasons of grief are difficult but deeply important to the course of our lives. Yet many people have allowed our thoughts about grief to be shaped by the world.

This study will help us to grieve as children of a loving and providing Father rather than those who have no hope. We’ll learn that grief is neither a fearful mystery nor a series of predictable stages. Rather, we find meaning for our loss and a place for our sorrow in the pages of God’s Word.

  • Faithfulness

The Bible celebrates God’s faithfulness and commands our own. Too often, we don’t prioritize it as we should because faithfulness, as friends, family members, and disciples of Jesus, takes time, effort, and discernment to cultivate. Yet faithfulness has many rewards, and our degree of faithfulness affects the shape of our future. The faithfulness we show now determines the opportunities we’ll receive to show faithfulness later.

In this study, we’ll learn three key elements of faithfulness and tackle its greatest obstacle. We’ll use three tests to measure our own faithfulness and to pinpoint the issues that are holding us back. We’ll walk away with a concrete plan to leave excuses behind and do what God has entrusted us to do.

Each topic stands on its own, so while we’d love for you to join us every week, it’s perfectly okay if you need to miss one. Come to what you can.

Each Week You’ll:

  • Learn together through teaching rooted in Scripture.
  • Talk it through in table groups with others walking the same road.
  • Ask your questions during dedicated Q&A time.
  • We may even get to work through a case study or two.

Our Hope for You:

By the end of our time together, you’ll understand how each of these topics touches your life, what the Bible says about it, and how to apply that truth. Both for yourself and for the people around you who need it.

We’d love to have you join us. Come as you are.
