Do you Know Him
REPRESENTING THE KING OF KINGS
Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:17–21 · Translation: ESV
DAY 1 Sent as Official Representatives
Remember:
We are called to be light and salt, and we represent the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Read:
2 Corinthians 5:20
Dig Deeper:
In the ancient Roman world, an ambassador was an official envoy sent by the emperor to represent his authority in a foreign land. Paul deliberately uses this diplomatic term to describe believers. We do not speak on our own authority, nor do we promote our own agenda. Every interaction we have is an opportunity to express the character, message, and peace of the heavenly realm we belong to.
Reflect:
How does knowing that you are Christ's official representative change the way you approach your daily tasks and conversations?
Pray:
Lord Jesus, help me remember that I belong to your kingdom today. Give me wisdom to speak and act in a way that brings honor to your name. Amen.
DAY 2 Preservation and Illumination
Remember:
We are called to be light and salt to those around us.
Read:
Matthew 5:13–16
Dig Deeper:
Jesus selected two basic household necessities to describe the ministry of his disciples. In the ancient world, salt was primarily used to prevent food from decaying, while light pushed back dark rooms. Notice that both elements must come into direct contact with their surroundings to work. Believers are not meant to isolate themselves from the world, but to engage it actively so God's truth preserves and clarifies lives.
Reflect:
Where in your neighborhood, workplace, or family can you intentionally bring the preserving grace of Jesus this week?
Pray:
Father, use me as salt and light in my community. Help me to engage those around me with genuine love and clear truth. Amen.
DAY 3 Boldness to Speak
Remember:
Speak Jesus to those people, to anybody that will listen.
Read:
Colossians 4:2–6
Dig Deeper:
Paul instructs believers to pray for open doors for the gospel, but he also asks for prayer that he might speak clearly. Sharing Jesus does not require eloquent arguments or theological degrees. It requires a heart that is watchful for open doors and a tongue seasoned with grace. When we rely on the Holy Spirit, we can speak the name of Jesus with both gentle kindness and holy confidence.
Reflect:
What holds you back from bringing up Jesus in conversation, and how can you prepare your heart to speak with grace?
Pray:
Holy Spirit, give me open eyes to see opportunities to share your gospel and the courage to speak when those doors open. Amen.
DAY 4 The Heart of True Repentance
Remember:
Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins and I accept you as my Savior, my master, and my friend.
Read:
Acts 3:19–20
Dig Deeper:
The Greek word for repentance is metanoia, which literally means a change of mind that leads to a total change of direction. Repentance is far more than feeling remorse for wrong choices. It is a decisive turn away from self-governance and toward the authority of Jesus. When we turn to him, scripture promises that seasons of refreshing come directly from the presence of the Lord.
Reflect:
Is there an area of your life where you need to turn away from self-reliance and yield control back to Jesus?
Pray:
Jesus, I turn away from my sin and my self-reliance. I ask for your forgiveness and yield full control of my life to your leadership. Amen.
DAY 5 Walking in Surrender
Remember the Week
We are called to serve as ambassadors of Christ, functioning as salt and light in a dark world. Yet our witness is grounded in personal surrender to Jesus as Savior, Master, and Friend.
The Big Idea, Restated
Effective public witness for Christ flows directly from a private life fully surrendered to his lordship.
One Integrating Question
What practical step will you take today to live out your identity as an ambassador for Jesus?
Pray
Lord Jesus, from this day forward I choose to serve you alone. Strengthen me to walk faithfully as your ambassador in everything I do. Amen.
